The First Acura NSX Fetches US$1.2 million at Barrett-Jackson Auction

The very first production unit of the 2017 Acura NSX that rolled off the assembly line was immediately sent to the auction block, a set a record price for a designated VIN 001 vehicle.

The NSX supercar was sold at a price of US$1.2 million, and Acura announced that all proceeds will go to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation in North Carolina as well as Camp Southern Ground in Georgia.

The new owner of the first 2017 Acura NSX is Rick Hendrick, founder of the Hendrick Automotive Group that has 99 dealers across the United States. He’s also the owner of Hendrick Motorsports, currently involved in NASCAR racing.

Customer orders for the car will begin on February 25th at authorized Acura NSX dealers. The NSX is a hybrid sports car that includes a twin-turbo, 3.5-litre V6, three electric motors, all-wheel drive and a nine-speed, dual-clutch automated transmission for a combined output of 573 horsepower. Its base price in Canada is set at $189,900.
