Henry Ford’s 150th birthday celebrated around the world

One of the most iconic names in the motoring industry is undoubtedly Henry Ford. Often referred to as the “Father of the automobile,” Ford revolutionized the auto industry by building the first-ever moving assembly line and bringing mobility to the masses. Born in Wayne County, Michigan, July 30 marked Mr. Ford’s 150th anniversary of birth, and that momentous day was celebrated around the world, starting with his home town.

At Ford’s headquarters in Dearborn, a special proclamation was presented by the state of Michigan to mark this day as “Henry Ford Day.”

Furthermore, 21 Asia-Pacific markets had marked this July as Ford Heritage month, and transformed showrooms into exhibition halls to inform the public of Ford’s rich history.

Five road rallies were held in Germany this month to celebrate Ford’s numerous automotive breakthroughs; while over in Romania, over 4,000 people attended community events put on by Ford.

In Great Britain, one of Ford’s most popular markets, a restored statue of Henry Ford was revealed at Ford’s UK Tech Centre.

Ford Motor Company executive chairman Bill Ford quoted: “My great-grandfather’s vision was to improve people’s lives by making cars affordable for the average family. His vision to build cars that are reasonably priced, reliable and efficient still resonates and defines our vision today.”
