Small, urban sport utility vehicles are all the rage these days and the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show will have a lot. The Kia Niro will be one of them with its compact, city-friendly dimensions.
According to Kia, the Niro is aimed at consumers for whom a vehicle must be small and nimble. The concept is designed mainly to evaluate the potential of a new compact sport utility vehicle on the European market. Interestingly, the Niro concept was developed at Kia design studios in Frankfurt. It will therefore not have a long way to go to get on the podium.
The Kia Niro will be the first Kia product powered by a new engine that may very well find itself under the hood of other models by the Korean manufacturer. However, Kia did not disclose any further details about the engine.
The Niro’s exterior styling is typical concept and includes several components that will not end up on a possible production version such as butterfly doors. However, the yellow neon surrounding the typical Kia grille could make its way to production on this model or other Kia vehicles.
