This is the second year in a row that a Porsche finishes first in Motor Trend’s ranking. Last year’s best driver’s car award went to the two-wheel-drive Porsche Carrera S. Each vehicle vying for the distinction is put through a battery of instrumented tests as well as a 500 mile road trip that includes a stretch of winding canyon roads. Testing is capped off at Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway where each vehicle has a chance to show off just how powerful and fun to drive it can be.
"This is a significant honor for our brand as we celebrate the 50th birthday of our 911 sports car this year. Being named Motor Trend's Best Driver's Car shows that our flagship car still has the same appeal it has had for 50 years." said Detlev von Platen, President and CEO, Porsche Cars North America, Inc.
The Porsche 911 has long been considered by many driving enthusiasts as the quintessential sports car that also happens to be a pleasant daily driver. After personally driving the vehicle on the track at Mosport for a day, I certainly cannot argue with Motor Trend’s decision.
