We had the opportunity to evaluate the new 2014 Toyota Corolla at the official launch of the model in Quebec this week. So to learn more about the ride and the strengths and weaknesses of the car, please check out the full test drive.
The 2014 Toyota Corolla comes in four versions: CE, S , LE and LE ECO . Here are the prices and specifications for each model.
Toyota Corolla CE: from $ 15,995
The Toyota Corolla is available from $ 15,995 before taxes and preparation and comes standard with a 6-speed manual transmission. Buyers can also opt for a 4-speed (yes only four) automatic transmission.
The Corolla is offered with power doors and windows, Bluetooth, steering wheel mounted audio controls and a USB port. However, buyers will have to pay extra for the air conditioner while cruise control, heated seats and a sunroof are not found on the CE model.
Toyota Corolla S: from $ 19,215
The S model is the sporty version of the Corolla 2014 and comes equipped with 16-inch steel wheels with covers (17 inch aluminum rims are optional), a spoiler, fog lights and turn signals integrated into the mirrors. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard, while the new continuously variable CVTi-S automatic transmission is optional. In the S model, the CVTI -S adds an M mode that allows you to change gears manually using paddles mounted to the steering wheel.
Inside, heated seats, air conditioning, cruise control and a multifunction display with rear-view camera are standard.
Toyota Corolla LE: from $ 19,500
Like the Toyota Corolla S, the LE comes standard with air conditioning, heated seats, cruise control and a multifunction display. Only the CVTi-S automatic transmission is available on the LE model.
Toyota Corolla LE Eco: from $ 20,250
The LE Eco model is most economical and ecological version of the Corolla range, even if the car is more powerful than other models - 140 horsepower versus 132 in the other versions.
The Eco version of LE receives new Valvematic technology which adjusts the throttle valve opening in response to requests made to the engine. The result is an optimized and more efficient air-fuel mixture. Outside the LE Eco is equipped with steel 16-inch steel wheels with covers while aluminium rims are optional.
Inside, air conditioning, cruise control, a rear-view camera and heated seats are standard.
On S and LE versions, there are three groups of options: the Upgrade Package, the Premium Package and the Technology Package. The Upgrade Package adds a transparent roof panel, aluminum wheels and fog lamps on the LE model. The Upgrade package is also available on the LE Eco model.
The Premium Package adds automatic climate control, power driver's seat and SoftTex trimmed seats - an ecological fabric that looks like leather. Finally, the Technology Package adds push-button start, a navigation system, SiriusXM Satellite Radio and auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
