Although the English manufacturer’s SUV lineup is pretty well stocked with the Land Rover and Range Range product ranges, Jaguar believes it can offer something different. The F-PACE is their first utility vehicle, and it’s making its first Canadian appearance at the Toronto Auto Show.
The 2017 Jaguar F-PACE is a midsize SUV that is said to combine “the agility, the responsiveness and the refinement that Jaguar cars are renowned for, together with the exceptional dynamics and everyday versatility of an SUV.”
In Canada, the F-PACE will be offered with a supercharged 3.0-litre V6, an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drivetrain. Two variants of this engine will be available, one producing 340 horsepower in the base trim levels, and 380 hp in the F-PACE S versions. Equipped with the latter, the SUV can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. Later this year, a 2.0-litre, turbo-diesel four will be added, serving up 180 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque.
Base price for the 2017 Jaguar F-PACE is set at $53,900 before freight and delivery charges, although the eventual diesel-powered version will check in at $49,900. The F-PACE will be on sale this spring.
Also in display at the Toronto Auto Show are the equally new 2016 Jaguar XF and 2017 Jaguar XE. The XE compact sport sedan will be available in two distinct versions: the 35t will get a 340-hp supercharged V6 while the 20d will benefit from the 180-hp, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four. Base price for the 2017 Jaguar XE is set at $45,000.
As for the redesigned XF, it will be available exclusively with an all-wheel drivetrain in Canada, along with a supercharged 3.0L V6 engine that develops either 340 or 380 horsepower. Base price is set at $61,400.
The rest of Jaguar’s lineup consists of the full-size XJ, which starts at $92,000, and the F-TYPE in coupe and roadster body styles. The F-TYPE starts at $77,500.
