Called the M Performance line, this package not only enhances the styling of this already pretty coupe, but adds more power, too.
Like all previous M Performance line products, this package adds an aggressively styled body kit, sporty interior upgrades, a tweaked suspension plus unique 20-inch wheels. Typically, these changes would be enough to convince their customers to fork up the extra cash for these goodies, but this time, BMW is offering even more.
By more, we mean extra power. The turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder motor in the 428i will produce an extra 27 hp and 29 lb-ft of torque (for a total of 270 hp and 287 lb-ft), while the turbocharged 3.0L inline-six in the 435i model will produce an extra 34 hp and 37 lb-ft of torque (total output 334 hp and 337 lb-ft).
BMW says the increase in power was achieved through a software revision and by adding a new sport exhaust. BMW also says that despite the extra performance, there is no increase in fuel consumption or CO2 emissions.
The M Performance line not only adds style and power to the 2014 BMW 4 Series, but also gives a hint as to what the new M4 version will look like. The M4 will make its global debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan next January.
