Porsche twice as popular with women

The addition of Maria Sharapova as a spokesperson seems to have been beneficial for Porsche with the German manufacturer noticing an influx of women into its dealerships. Female buyers now account for 15% of its customers in North America, more than twice the percentage observed two years ago.

This is what was observed in a video report carried out by CNBC. According to Porsche dealers in the United States, most women opt for the Porsche Cayenne SUV. The Cayenne has also been popular on this side of the border with sales growing steadily in comparison with last year.

In fact, Porsche sales as a whole are doing very well this year, fueled by the introduction of the new 911, Boxster and Cayman. As of July 31st, Porsche sales have increased by 25% with 2,154 vehicles in Canada compared to 1,723 cars last year.

Although Porsche says it is not specifically trying to change the image of the brand and its target audience, the manufacturer has launched several campaigns to highlight the practicality of its vehicles. The hiring of Maria Sharapova, one of the best known female personalities in the world, also contributes to increasing the appeal of the luxury manufacturer with female buyers.
