Mazda announces pricing and fuel economy for the new 2014 Mazda3

The new 2014 Mazda3 will undoubtedly be one of the most important new models to hit the road this year, especially in Quebec. Yesterday, Mazda unveiled the final details in regards to its new compact vehicle.

As always with Mazda, the 2014 Mazda3 will be available in three versions: GX, GS and GT. The 2014 Mazda3 GX will be offered from $ 15,995 while the GT model is available from $ 25 855. Between the two is the GS version and its starting price of $ 19 695.

Two engines both using SKYACTIV technology will be offered. The GX and GS models are powered by a four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine that sends 155 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque to the front axle. This is the same engine that is currently found in the 2013 Mazda3 GS-Sky. The GT version has a more powerful 2.5-liter SKYACTIV engine delivering 184 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque.

The GX and GS models come standard with a 6-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual transmission while the SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmission is optional. On the 2014 Mazda3 GT, the automatic transmission is standard. The GT also gets a Sport mode which adjusts the engine and transmission to provide a more dynamic driving experience.

According to Mazda, the 2.0-liter engine’s fuel economy will be 6.8 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 4.8 L/100 km on highway with the automatic transmission. The manual gearbox subtracts 0.1 liter from each of these ratings.

The more powerful engine in the GT version displays a fuel economy of 7.2 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 5.1 L/100 km on the highway.

All 2014 Mazda3 models will be offered with a keyless entry and start, Bluetooth connectivity and a USB port. In the GX version air conditioning is an option ($ 1 600), while it is standard, of course, in the other two versions.

The 2014 Mazda3 will arrive in dealerships next month.
