Chevrolet has shipped over 1000 Corvette Stingrays. They should arrive in dealerships in the coming weeks. The Bowling Green assembly plant received a $ 131 million upgrade in order to be able to produce the new performance car. $ 52 million was allocated for in-house production of a new aluminum frame reserved for the Corvette Stingray.
“It’s an amazing sight to see the transporters filled with Stingrays heading to customers all over North America,” said Dave Tatman, plant manager of General Motors’ Bowling Green Assembly plant. “The pride at Bowling Green is overwhelming and it shows in the tremendous quality and attention to detail going into each one of these new Corvettes.”
The new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is the most powerful base Corvette ever offered by General Motors. Its 6.2-liter V8 engine develops 455 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This is good enough to reach 100 km/h in less than four seconds while the quarter mile flies by in 12.0 seconds. And all of this can be had for $ 52,745 before taxes and installation.
A more powerful version of the Chevrolet Corvette as well as a convertible will also begin production in the next few months.
