Acura replaces two models with the TLX prototype unveiled in Detroit

When Acura unveiled the 2015 TLX Prototype at the North American Auto Show in Detroit, it marked the end of the TSX as well as the TL. The TLX will be the new, and only, mid-size sedan offered by the Japanese automaker.

Very little information has been revealed concerning the 2015 TLX. On the other hand, we do know that it will offer two engines. The first will be a four-cylinder, 2.4 liter engine with direct injection while the second will be a more powerful 3.5-liter V6 engine. An 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission will propel models powered by the four-cylinder engine while a 9-speed automatic transmission handles power coming from the V6.

The TLX will be offered as standard with front-wheel drive while Acura’s SH-AWD all-wheel-drive system will be optional.

Measuring 4.83 meters in length, the 2015 TLX will compete with other recently-redesigned luxury sedans like the the Infiniti Q50, Lexus IS and Mercedes- Benz C-Class. When it arrives on the market, the TLX will be asked to replace the sales numbers of both the TSX and TL.

In regards to the TLX prototype unveiled in Detroit, it displays a typical Acura sharp trapezoidal grille and headlights consisting of a row of five small lights that are identical to what you would find on the RLX and MDX, both of which were redesigned in 2014.
